Behind the Brand
Toodaloo was founded by Cattie Khoury. Due to her love for processed and unhealthy snack foods, Cattie — a lifelong snack lover — was overweight and frequently bullied as a child, causing her to develop mental health and body image issues. Over time, however, Cattie managed to find solace in the environment; she felt healed in nature, grew to love the environment, and developed a desire to save the Earth. While studying environmental sustainability in college, Cattie discovered that plant-based nutrition was not only beneficial for human health, but also healing for the planet. She was astonished by her findings but didn’t know what to do with the information until the onset of COVID pandemic.
As the country entered lockdown and quarantine, Cattie began to stress-eat the same unhealthy snack foods from her childhood. Consequently, she was rapidly gaining weight and feeling depressed and anxious. One of the snack foods that Cattie found herself regularly gorging on was trail mix, and upon examining the ingredient list, she realized that it primarily contained candy and inflammatory oils. Cattie, a cooking and nutrition enthusiast, was confident that she could make a better trail mix. She bought a dehydrator from Amazon and started tinkering in her kitchen, adding in adaptogenic herbs that were healing for the body. To her pleasant surprise, her mixes turned out absolutely delicious and she handed them out to some friends, who fell in love with the taste and started asking for more. This marked the beginning of the Toodaloo journey. Today, Cattie continues to live out her mission to heal the mind, body, and environment through her functional and crave-worthy trail mix.
