Behind the Brand
Whoa Dough was founded by serial entrepreneur Todd Goldstein, who always had a huge affinity for cookie dough. Growing up, his parents owned and operated a restaurant, and Todd would eat as much cookie dough as he could and subsequently get sick. In 2011, however, Todd was diagnosed with a severe gluten intolerance and forced to give up his favorite dessert. When his 3 sons were born and they all exhibited gluten allergies, Todd began to wonder if there was an opportunity to create a better-for-you, gluten-free cookie dough that he and his family could all enjoy together. He knew there weren’t any alternatives on the market that resembled the real thing, so he set out to create his own.
Todd got to work on developing the first prototypes for Whoa Dough’s cookie dough bars. He and his team focused on recreating the taste and texture of real cookie dough with healthier, gluten-free ingredients. After 2 years and 19 different recipes, Todd soft-launched Whoa Dough in 2019. The cookie dough bars were sold in a few independent grocery stores in the area, and based on feedback from customers, the Whoa Dough team continued to iterate on their bars and launched the 21st and final recipe in November 2020. Today, Whoa Dough is bringing healthy cookie dough to the masses and allowing everyone — regardless of food intolerances — to enjoy a favorite childhood treat.
