Basis Hydration was created out of a personal need for a solution to manage dehydration. Gatorade and Powerade had been around for many years, but there was a lack of innovation in the hydration category. The team behind Basis developed their hydration mixes using rehydration therapies developed by the World Health Organization, the gold standard in hydration science. The mixes were tested on elite athletes, gym rats, students, and moms. 

Basis Hydration was acquired in 2022.
