Behind the Brand

Suckerz was created by co-founders Kasey Stewart and Tiana Haraguchi. Before launching Suckerz, Kasey worked at large digital agencies and spearheaded the creative vision for global brands like Samsung, Adidas, and Netflix. However, while helping other brands with their launch strategies, Kasey developed the desire to launch a product of his own. One day, while walking through the aisles of Whole Foods with his girlfriend Tiana, the idea hit him. Kasey and Tiana couldn’t find great-tasting candy that wasn’t packed with sugar or sugar alcohols, and they realized that the hard candy market hadn’t seen any innovation since Jolly Ranchers, Blow Pops, and Tootsie Pops. That night, Kasey and Tiana went home, bought the domain suckerz.com for $2,800, and set out to disrupt the hard candy category.

To kick off product development, Kasey and Tiana hired a formulator on the east coast who had previously worked on Jolly Ranchers. They were intent on creating an all-natural, low-sugar, and ball-shaped lollipop that didn’t contain any sugar alcohols. The co-founders documented their journey on TikTok, amassing millions of views in the process, and launched Suckerz after a year and a half of product development. Fast forward to today, Kasey and Tiana have reinvented nostalgic candy with a healthy twist, and they’re on a mission to make you feel good.

Meet the Maker

What has been your most unforgettable moment (good or bad) while building your company? - +

I made a TikTok about this called "The 17 minute wait to know if our startup was going to fail". It was the day we did our first lollipop production run and was the first time a low sugar formula had run through the production line. We were at risk of the formula sticking in the machine. There's a 17 minute wait from the time you put all the ingredients in the machine until either lollipops come out the other end or we'd have to hit the emergency stop. 17 minutes later hundreds of lollipops came pouring out and we were in business. We cried.

What is your favorite thing to do in your free time? - +

Tiana and I love the outdoors. Our favorite place to visit is Jackson, Wyoming. We try and go once or twice a year to reset and will hike, rent ATV's, ski etc. We love it so much our dog is named Jackson.

What is an essential part of your daily routine? - +

I got this 10-minute morning routine from Tony Robbins called the "Daily Primer". First thing I'll grab a cup of coffee, then write down 3 things I'm thankful for, 3 things I want to accomplish or envision and then 3 minute meditation. It all takes about 10-minutes.

What is your biggest pet peeve? - +

Dishonesty.

What is one thing most people don’t know about you? - +

I set the Guinness World Record for "Fastest Person to Touch All 7 Continents" - 92h:4m:19s. I started in Australia and ended in Antarctica.

What do you want to be remembered for? - +

Someone who maximized his potential on Earth, had a positive impact on anyone he ever interacted with and raised a family who will make the next generation better than the current.
